Texas Governor Rick Perry invited Nick to speak at his state’s recent
prayer breakfast. It was more than just a civic event. The governor and
those in attendance truly were seeking God for His direction.
Nick took the opportunity to issue a most unexpected challenge to
these leaders. “We certainly want to pray,” Nick said. “But our faith
extends beyond that. We need to take action.” Nick then implored the
crowd to knock on their neighbors’ door first. To share God’s love with
those right in their own backyard. “We need to start with our
neighborhoods — house to house.” Nick said this is how we can truly
touch people. “The Gospel will grow from there, to our community, then
from our communities to our cities, from our cities to our state, from
our state to our country, from our country to the world.”
The governor was so moved he said he’d like to have Nick speak via
simulcast to all the Texas schools. Please pray for this opportunity.
Students are so incredibly inspired when Nick shares in a school
setting. On this trip he spoke at three different campuses. He invited
the students to a city-wide event held at a large local church in
Austin. Over 150 students came forward to accept Christ.
One teenage girl was so touched she sought Nick out in the parking
lot afterwards. She shared the most astonishing story. While on the
surface she was an attractive, popular girl, underneath she was so
depressed she was considering suicide. Yet after hearing Nick and the
message of hope, she changed her mind. She said, “I’ve never told anyone
this. But I was ready to give up. Not now.” Praise God! He turned this
precious young woman from darkness to light.
Thanks be to God who is sovereignly opening doors for Nick and Life
Without Limbs to impact the “movers and shakers” as well as those who
feel hopelessly forgotten.
